The Afir Begaj Family

Afir & Nadire Begaj #71408

Afir and Nadire Begaj have four children and live in the village of Banje, in central Kosovo near pastor Urim’s church in Malisheve.

s epilepsy and cannot work. His mother lives with them and she suffers from high blood pressure. Unfortunately, they are very poor, have no relatives, and receive a small stipend from the government of 120 Euros per month. This does not cover their basic needs, which means they rely on sponsorship support to help feed their children.

Their home is full of mold and cracks in the walls. There’s no insulation of the exterior walls, and during winter, everyone sleeps in the living room where they have a stove for heat.  What furniture they have, was given to them. Despite their financial needs, this is a happy and loving family.

The oldest son Almir, born in 2006, is a good student. However, their second son Halim, born in 2009, has epilepsy as well and cannot attend school. He’s on medication and must be supervised. He has completed elementary school but cannot continue.

However, Halim has a very wonderful attitude, always smiling, laughing, and happy.  He’s the first one who will hug when visitors come, though he doesn’t speak much, and is difficult to understand.

Sponsorship is so important for this family.  It provides groceries every month and firewood at Christmas time for the winter months to keep them warm.
