Besa Gashi is a single mother living with her three children. Her husband Fatmir passed away from stomach cancer, and she was left to raise the children. They are a poor family in the village of Banje, with only a small house with one bedroom, a living room and a kitchen.
Besa struggles with mental health issues, high blood pressure, and diabetes. It is difficult for her to care for her children while managing her own health.
The girls Sabrina, born in 2004 and Mirela, born in 2006 have only finished elementary school. Due to the lack of finances, they could not continue any further in school. It was common in the past for girls not to attend high school.
Her son, Azem, born in 2007, loves playing soccer. He does not attend school and all the children suffer from psychological problems. They are unable to read or write and their cognitive development is delayed.
