Safe Families Intro

Safe Families for Children is a movement of Christian families who volunteer their homes to provide shelter for children in crisis. Founded by Dr. David Anderson in 2002 in Chicago, Safe Families for Children has partnered with the local church to grow to a network of over 11,000 volunteers. This movement of volunteer families is growing and we have now provided 12,000 placements for children.

Mercy Projects in Murrieta is an SFFC implementer. We partner with Olive Crest in Santa Ana to implement SFFC in southwest Riverside County. More churches and host families are needed as we reach out as the “hands and feet of Jesus” to assist children in crisis.

There are currently 65 active sites, successfully established in more than 25 states across the United States. SFFC has also become a global movement, with sites now in Canada and the UK. Safe Families partners with host agencies, local churches, ministries, community and government agencies to intervene in the lives of children and families in crisis.
