What Is Family Sponsorship?
Some organizations are famous for doing “child sponsorship.” However, at Mercy Projects we do Family Sponsorship. We realized long ago that the best thing we can do for children is to support their family. Our goal is to connect you, the sponsor, to a family in Ukraine or Kosovo, so you can have a personal relationship with them. You will pray for them and know how important your sponsorship really is.
A Family Sponsorship provides physical, financial, medical, and spiritual support for a family in need. You are encouraged to write letters or email to your family and develop a relationship with them.
Child Development and Connection
The program in Ukraine is managed through our staff and local case-workers who monitor and support each family. Our goal is healthy child development and of course spiritual renewal through introducing them to the love of Jesus. A sponsorship helps us do this. Our focus is on individual families; not on villages and communities.
The connection between sponsors and families provides a dimension of hope, and emotional and financial support they did not have before.
In Country Foster Care and Adoption
Your sponsorship may also support a Ukrainian Foster Family who is rescuing orphans and raising them in their family. In Ukraine they call this a family-type-orphanage. The best solution for vulnerable children is to be raised in a loving family. Thus, we encourage you to pray and support Ukrainian families fostering children.
Sponsored Families Need 3 Sponsors
A single sponsorship is $36 per month. Each family needs 3 sponsors. Larger foster families with 10 children may have more.
A full sponsorship ($108 month) in addition to financial and material support, also allows children from the family to attend our annual summer and winter camps. Your sponsorship provides a camp experience, and this is where the transformation starts. After a week at camp, many or most of the children experience a life changing time. The counselors in our camps are all former sponsored children.
