Visiting Families in Kosovo

A Family Visit and A Glimpse of Grace
By Larry Hansen

During our recent trip, our team had the great privilege of visiting several families supported by Mercy Projects. These visits were more than just house calls, they were sacred moments. We were welcomed into homes with warm smiles and open hearts. Many served us tea, some offered snacks, and one family even prepared a full lunch. The food was delicious and far more than we could eat, a beautiful display of hospitality that left us humbled and grateful. Despite having so little, these families gave so generously. We were treated like honored guests, and it was deeply moving.

One visit in particular still lingers in my heart. It was with a newly-registered family, a widow and her teenage daughter. The daughter was very shy at first, but after our visit, she decided to come to our English outreach. She not only returned for a second day but was engaged, joyful, and even thanked me personally. She said she had fun and hoped to return. Her mother, overwhelmed by poverty, could only offer us cold water during our visit. But her kindness and courage were powerful. Coming from a Muslim background, I pray that the simple act of being present, listening, and loving will be a step in drawing her heart toward Jesus.

I am so encouraged to see firsthand how Mercy Projects is connecting with these families through the local church and the faithful ministry of Pastor Urim and his wife Teuta. It is beautiful to see the gospel at work, pointing people toward the hope of Christ. As a Mercy Projects board member, I’m filled with gratitude for our donors. Their generosity is not only meeting practical needs, but it is also opening doors for Gospel relationships to grow. Thank you for making moments like these possible.
