The Karptsov Family

Oleksiy and Oksana Karptsov are refugees from a small town in the Luhansk region of east Ukraine. They had two sons, Yegor and Matviy. When Russia occupied the area in 2014, the family fled to Samar, a suburb near the city of Dnipro.
Russian people who have been “resettled” into the occupied territories of Ukraine, now live in the home that they built together. When the full-scale invasion happened in February, 2022, their oldest son, Yegor, 21 years old, immediately volunteered to defend Ukraine. Tragically, he lost his life in the war.
After their son’s death, Oleksiy and Oksana decided to adopt 4-year-old Nastya from an orphanage. When they learned that she had three siblings, there was no doubt what had to be done.
