Gjyle (pronounced like “Julie”) struggles to provide for her three kids as a widow, alone. There are 2 boys 1 girl in this family. Shpejtim (male) is 14 years old and in 8th grade; his favorite subject is math. Diellza (female) is 13 years old and in 7th grade; her favorite subject is literature. Shkelqim (male) is 12 years old and in 6th grade; his favorite subject is math.

Gjyle struggles with high blood pressure, headaches, and back pain. She is fortunate enough to live amongst some very caring neighbors who have helped to finish construction on her small house and furnish it after her husband died. Her home has no running water or well so the family gets water from the neighbors. The community also built a brick wall for security.

Gjyle’s husband died two and a half years ago from a tumor in the throat that was most likely cancerous. Shpejtim, at 14 years old, is now the man of the house. You can see in his too-serious eyes that he bears that responsibility. He has had consistent stomach problems which point to appendicitis but the doctors have not yet deemed it necessary to remove his appendix. Diellza also has stomach pains but they haven’t identified what they are. Shkelqim has a sickly pallor and trouble with his throat. He needs to be taken for more tests.

Gjyle is very thankful to begin getting groceries from Mercy Projects. Currently, the family relies on handouts from neighbors as her social funds are less than $100 a month. Her two oldest, Shpejtim and Diellza, are excited to begin taking English from the course run by MP missionary Jen in the nearby town. A bus driver will bring them to and from town without charging them.

Thank you for your sponsorship of this family.
